Signs That Rats May Be Using the Property
A single observation does not always establish the full extent of a rat problem. Inspection considers interior activity, exterior conditions, travel routes, structural openings and available food or shelter.
Sightings or Large Droppings
A rat sighting or larger rodent droppings may indicate an active travel route, nesting area or access to food and shelter. The location and pattern of the evidence help determine what should be inspected.
Heavier Movement or Gnawing
Movement may be heard in basements, crawlspaces, garages, walls, ceilings or utility areas. Gnawing may appear around openings, stored materials, structural transitions or accessible food sources.
Burrows or Exterior Activity
Openings in soil near foundations, slabs, sheds, decks, vegetation or protected exterior areas may indicate rat activity. The source and structural relationship should be evaluated before conclusions are made.
Rub Marks or Travel Routes
Repeated movement may leave dark rub marks, tracks, disturbed insulation, trails or other evidence along established routes.
RAT IDENTIFICATION
Most New York Rat Problems Involve Norway Rats
Norway rats are the rat species most commonly associated with structural pest activity in New York. Their activity is often connected to foundations, basements, crawlspaces, garages, utility areas, exterior burrows and protected travel routes.
Roof rats are uncommon in New York and should not be assumed based only on activity occurring above ground level. Rats can move through wall cavities, utility pathways and structural voids.
ENVOREX evaluates the available evidence before drawing conclusions about the species, source and extent of the activity.

Where Rats May Enter a Structure
Rats may use damaged, deteriorated or incomplete building transitions. Relevant conditions vary based on foundation type, additions, attached garages, utilities, drainage, access and previous repairs.

The inspection determines which conditions appear active, which openings qualify for sealing and which repairs require a separate contractor or separately written scope.

What a Rat Inspection May Include
Rat Control Requires More Than Sealing One Hole
Active rat pressure may involve an existing population, established travel routes, exterior burrows and multiple structural conditions. Sealing an opening without addressing the activity behind it may not correct the complete problem.
Population Control
The approved scope may include trapping, control measures and placement based on the activity observed, access conditions and applicable service plan.
Structural Exclusion
Qualifying openings included in the written scope may be sealed, reinforced or otherwise corrected to reduce continued access through treated locations.
The sequence and scope depend on the inspection findings. Population control and structural repairs may occur in separate stages.

Perform Rat Control
Approved trapping or control measures are placed based on the conditions found and the written service scope.

Seal Qualifying Entry Points
Qualifying structural openings included in the approved scope are sealed or reinforced at the appropriate stage of the control process.
The exact sequence may vary based on activity, access, structure, exterior conditions and the approved written scope.
Exterior Conditions Can Support Continued Rat Activity
Rat activity may be influenced by exterior shelter, food availability, vegetation, debris, drainage conditions, adjoining structures and burrows near the property.

Recommendations involving sanitation, vegetation, waste storage, drainage or repairs outside the approved ENVOREX scope remain the property owner's responsibility unless specifically included in writing.
Cleanup Is a Separate Service Scope
Rat removal, structural exclusion and cleanup are separate service categories. Dropping removal, sanitation, odor treatment, insulation work, contaminated-material removal and structural restoration are included only when specifically listed in the written estimate or service agreement.

Limited Exclusion Warranty
1-Year Limited Rodent Exclusion Warranty
Qualifying rodent entry points repaired by ENVOREX may be covered for one year when the warranty is included in your written service agreement. The written agreement controls the actual scope and terms.
- Coverage applies only when included in the written estimate or service agreement
- Coverage is limited to qualifying entry points repaired under the original scope
- New openings, untreated areas and unrelated activity are not automatically covered
- Property changes may affect coverage, and the website itself does not create a warranty
